5 BS Facts About Cleaning Everyone Thinks are True

Better-looking is not always cleaner

Ever since childhood we’ve been taught that cleaning is everything. I bet your mother nagged you constantly about making your bed and cleaning your room. But what’s the point in all that? No, really, is there a logical answer to that simple question? After all, you’re going to sleep in your bed again tonight. So in my frustration with all cleaning to be done, I decided to share my insights into the BS cleaning facts. Enjoy.

#1 Making Your Bed – Pointless

As I mentioned, since an early age most of us associate making our beds with the cleaning our mums made us do. Good news is that not making your bed in the morning is actually healthier for you. Boy, proving someone wrong feels good, especially if it’s an authority, like your mother, who keeps on calling you to make sure you’re eating well and not living in a squalor. But let’s not get off topic. According to a study carried out in the UK, bed bugs, or dust mites, can’t survive in an unmade bed. That’s important because dust mites can cause some serious respiratory problems.

#2 Too Much Cleaning – Pointless

More good news for those of you who are not too fond of regular cleaning. Too much cleaning can actually have the opposite effective. No, I’m not saying it will make your house dirtier but it will sterilise your entire home environment and wipe out the good symbiotic bacteria our organisms need to function properly. As a result, the functioning of your immune system might be impaired, meaning that your organism will have hard times fighting off viruses. Empirical studies also suggest that sterile environment might also result in increasing allergies especially among children. That is not to say that you have to forget about cleaning altogether. Just don’t go over the top.

#3 Cleaning on Your is the Same as Hiring a Cleaning Company – Wrong

Detergents

Cleaning companies know what to use

A lot of people think cleaning is as easy as one, two, three. They find it hard to believe that domestic cleaning has it’s secrets, but in reality, household cleaning companies have upped the process to an exact science. So cleaning on your own will never get even close to what some of these guys do. At the very least they know what detergents to use, which is crucial as you will shortly see for yourself.

#4 Using Hard Cleaners – Pointless

Germofobia has become a thing that a lot of people truly fear and for that reason most of us think that the stronger a cleaning solution is, the better. In fact, however, these can cause a lot of damage because the majority of the cleaning solutions we use contain a lot of toxins. Besides, not a lot of people know it, but eco-firendly cleaning solutions do just as good of a job as your regular detergents. An exception are the products that contain chlorine, like bleach. But those detergents, except being more toxic, cause the grout on your tiles to deteriorate faster and crack. It might not seem like much, but it’s quite serious because this leaves your tiles exposed and allows water to get under them, resulting in further damage and investing a serious amount of money on replacing your tiles.

#5 Baking Soda Does it All – Wrong

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for alternative cleaning solutions, but relying on soda is ludicrous. I tried to scrub a burnt pot the other day and must have used about two packages of baking soda and a bottle of vinegar with little visible effect. So know how to pick your battles and don’t believe everything you read on the Internet.
